4 Months Old

So much to catch up on! Callum is officially 4 months old today. It seems the time is flying past. We will have to post an official picture later--he did not do well at naps today so he was in bed by 7:30 tonight. Here's one from yesterday though, so it's an almost 4 month picture:


I returned back to work at the beginning of February (which makes updating even more difficult), and everything is going well so far. He has loved going to daycare at Auntie M's and Grandma and Grandpa's house. I wasn't sure how it would affect his sleeping schedule, but so far he continues to sleep through the night. He's in bed by 9 p.m. at the latest, although I would like to see it earlier. The only difficulty is his lack of taking many naps throughout the day, but we're working on it. It doesn't seem to affect his mood, though, as he is still generally a happy boy like this:



Having three snow days and a snow day for a makeup day made going back to work a lot easier. We didn't really get out to play in the snow at all, but we did at least get one snow picture. Callum obviously wasn't that impressed after seeing snow non-stop for days.



Two weeks ago, we went and visited Callum's newest cousin, Reegan. She is now almost three weeks old. Pictures will have to come later--she was asleep pretty much the entire time and we only saw her for a few short minutes. It would be nice if Callum would take some tips from her and take better naps in the crib, though. She's definitely showing him up in that category already!

And here he is in the outfit coming home from the hospital right after he was born. This was his special coming home outfit we picked out, and yet we bought a backup one just in case he was too big for it. Needless to say, since he can still wear it now (although it is finally getting too small), we definitely didn't have to worry about him being to big for it then!

Other than the incessant drooling and chewing on hands, toys, and anything else he can shove in his mouth, Callum has been pretty laid back. He loves to smile and talk, and is holding his head by himself well. He's still hit and miss with the rolling over because he's usually too fascinated with eating his hands instead of moving.

Overall things have been pretty regular here at the Green house. After struggling for ages to get Callum to enjoy tummy time, he's finally starting to decide it's not so bad after all:

Callum did finally learn a new trick on the 22, which we finally captured on video. Minus doing it once at our Bible study, he's still pretty shy about showing off for everyone else, so at least we have this to share:

Tomorrow is my first day back to work, which I'm not looking forward to, although Callum will have loads of fun with Auntie M and Grandma. And with a face like this, how could they not be ecstatic to get to watch him?

3 months old!

I can't believe Callum is three months old already. The time seems to be flying past, and judging by his eating schedule from this past weekend he is right on track for his three month growth spurt. He has been very active lately and his favorite activities are still playing on his play mat and sitting in his bouncy seat. He laughs all the time, especially when someone makes funny faces or blows raspberries at him.
Last week he finally received his two month shots and he did really well with them. He screamed during the shot, but as soon as they were done and I picked him up, he was fine and started laughing at the nurse. He took a really long nap afterwards and then acted like normal after that, so I'm very thankful I did not spend the day dealing with a cranky baby.
Just in the last few days he has really started to "talk" to himself and other people. He will spend ages making noises and having conversations, even if no one is around to listen to him.
On the one downside, he still refuses to nap in his crib for us. He took an hour nap in there on Saturday for my parents, so we thought he was finally getting used to the idea of naps there, so we were ready to try on Sunday and have a blissful hour or two. After four failed attempts, however, and an overly tired crying baby in the middle of the Colts game, we finally gave up. There's always another day at least.

A Long Overdue Update

I know I said before I would try to update this more often, but that obviously hasn't happened. We've been very busy, but hopefully now life will slow down at least a little bit before it gets busy again when I go back to work soon. Since it's been so long, I'll highlight the important milestones and events in our life as best I can remember. I'll attach some pictures of events soon.
*Callum successfully survived multiple Christmas celebrations and has the large stash of toys to show for it--however, his favorite toys right now are his hands and feet. I know eventually he will love to play with all of the toys and some do manage to hold his interest for a few minutes at a time. *We spent Christmas in Louisville celebrating with Scott's family and then headed back up to Franklin to spend a couple of days with my family.
*Callum had his two month checkup. As of December 28 he weighed 10 lbs., 6 oz., jumping from the 10th percentile at birth to the 25th percentile, so he's obviously eating well. He is also generally a happy baby unless he's hungry or tired and smiles often. He currently is fascinated with sucking on his hands, and has a great fascination with lights and ceiling fans, even when they're not on. (But it's at least cheap and easy entertainment since no matter what, we can always find a light somewhere!)
*Except for a couple of slip-ups, Callum has also been essentially sleeping through the night, which I am extremely thankful for, and the doctor was quite surprised and impressed with this. He usually does not like going to bed before 9:30 or 10:00 p.m, but he will then sleep to anywhere between 4 and 6 a.m. He does not like to sleep much during the day which means I am quite the entertainer and do not get much accomplished, but I'll take that if it means I sleep more at night.
*Callum was baptized today. He had lots of family and friends present for the baptism, and did very well. He didn't even flinch when the pastor put the water on his head and managed to keep his outfit clean throughout the entire service, which was impressive.

Happy holidays! These are some pictures of me attempting a photo shoot. We had some bad ones, but I thought these turned out pretty well. I was hoping to have pictures like this for the Christmas cards, but everyone will just have to enjoy them on here instead.

Wow, the days seem to be flying by so fast. It's hard to believe Christmas is only 10 days away, which means Callum is almost 2 months old. It seems like I just updated this--I really need to schedule a day to update as I'm realizing I'm really bad at remembering. The way I'm going about recording things I feel like this should be my second or third child instead of my first! I had great plans to keep a journal of my pregnancy and take pictures of myself throughout to see the changes, but then I did a terrible job of remembering and only wrote in the journal two or three times. The only good side picture of me was 10 days before Callum was born. So hopefully I do a better job of keeping this up to date!
Callum continues to be a lot of fun. He is really starting to smile now while he's awake and sometimes give a cute laugh. Strangely enough, he loves his changing table and I think he'd squirm around on there all day if we would let him. It does make for easy diaper changes usually, so I can't complain. After his diaper change this morning, I was able to take a couple pictures of him smiling. You can almost see his dimple on his left cheek.
He's also growing fast. He finally outgrew some of his newborn outfits and is starting to wear some of his 0-3 month sleepers, although a lot of them are still huge on him. He was 9 1/2 lbs. when he was weighed last week with a full stomach and his clothes on, so it will be interesting to see how much he weighs at his two month check-up.
This weekend he successfully survived his first full shopping and mall experience. Other than a few fussy moments because he was hungry (One of which was at Trader Joe's--I can't blame him for being hungry there!) he did a great job.

Thanksgiving, One Month, and More

What a cutie!

It's been a busy time in the Green house since our last posting. Callum celebrated being one month old and has been up to a few new tricks. After some patience and a long night or two, we are happy to report he is now sleeping in his crib all night. He is also really focusing on objects, although he still holds a fondness for staring at the ceiling.

One of his new favorite things to focus on is his space play mat. He sometimes spends up to 45 minutes at a time staring at the objects and watching them float around.

He also made his first trip out of state to Louisville. He was able to meet his Aunt Shannon, Great-Grandmommy, and Great Aunt Nancy. Unfortunately Alaina's great-grandmother had passed away and we attended the calling, but Callum's Great-Mamaw made sure to show him off to everyone.

And last, but as Scott would say definitely not least, Callum experienced his first Thanksgiving. He behaved quite well even if he wasn't old enough to enjoy the food.

Bath Time Fun!

While fun might be a bit of a stretch to title this post, we did give Callum his first official bath last week. Everyone survived, and hopefully he ended up at least a little cleaner than he was before--although Scott was a bit disappointed to not be able to pull out the bath toys to play with yet. Maybe next bath time.

Peaceful sleeping Callum, which is a feat in and of itself these days considering all of the grunting and groaning I get when I usually put him down for a nap. Poor kiddo has no idea what's coming to him soon.
Then the fun begins. Of course we had to have a shot of him screaming in the tub just a few short minutes after the peaceful sleep. What's a first bath post without it? Plus, it will make for good blackmail when he's older and thinks dating girls we don't like might be a good idea.



Happy to finally be out of the tub.
